BRAZIL–AFRICA AUDIOVISUAL ENCOUNTERS 2025 (The African and Diasporic Audience Design Think Tank)

International coordination with YETU (Unlimited)

From September 15 to 19, 2025, Salvador, Bahia, will host the second edition of the Brazil–Africa Audiovisual Encounters, an initiative of the Mostra de Cinemas Africanos that promotes the largest gathering of African and Brazilian audiovisual professionals. With the theme of audience design and organized in the format of a think tank, the event aims to develop collective strategies to expand the circulation of African films in Brazil and Brazilian productions across the African continent.

The international coordination of the event is led by Yanis Gaye, from Yetu (Un)Limited (Senegal), and Romeo Umulisa, from Creative Lab Africa (Rwanda), alongside Letícia Santinon, from the Brazilian distribution company Cajuína Filmes, who oversees the national coordination. Together, the three lead the curation and structuring of the event, which will bring together around 40 professionals from countries including Senegal, Nigeria, Rwanda, Kenya, Ghana, Angola, Cape Verde, the United Kingdom, France, and Brazil.

Africa coordinator

From September 19 to 22, 2024, the Mostra de Cinemas Africanos hosted the second edition of the Brazil–Africa Audiovisual Encounters, an initiative designed to foster partnerships and collaboration between African and Brazilian cinema. The event brought together more than 50 professionals from both sides of the South Atlantic in Salvador, Bahia, and sought to create a conducive space for collaboration, where knowledge and experiences could be exchanged to strengthen the film industries of both regions.
